Bhanu Kapil,

Melissa J. Lytton

I've been making stories in one way or another since I was old enough to hold a pen. As I've gotten older, I've found narrative is a powerful force in recovering from trauma. But I don't think that means recovery stories need to be devoid of humor or fantasy. So I write a lot of what I call SpecRec, speculative stories (sci fi, fantasy, etc.) that deal with the realities of recovery (addiction, trauma, coping with disabilities, etc.), all with an intersectional feminist slant. Because justice is important, but so is entertainment. If you feel the same way, you might like what I write.

Send me a question or book a gig.
I'm available for book clubs, conventions, and classes in the Kansas City metro area.
